The Evolution of Motor Homes in America
Motor homes are referred to as RVs,
motor homes, trailers, or motor coaches. These are a variety of vehicles that
have been invented to offer all the convenience of home to adventurous
travelers. These range from motor homes, which are a motor driven vehicle that
can accommodate you as if you were at home, to trailers that are towed behind
cars and trucks.
Motor homes have evolved from RVs
that only offered sleeping and storage of many years ago. Now there are motor homes
that offer the same amenities your home has and more. The first model of motor
homes were trailers that were manufactured in Ohio in the 1930s by Airstream. These were
rounded models made of aluminum which were towed behind cars or trucks. After
about 30 years there were more manufacturers of trailers. These were always
evolving and there were lots of changes in the amenities that were offered and
sizes of different makes and models.
With more amenities to offer
consumers today, motor homes have truly evolved from simple sleepers to a home.
Models today have some amenities that many people don't have in their homes.
Motor homes can come equipped with marble and hardwood floors with wireless
internet, full size baths, and have the capacity to sleep 8 to 12. Models that
have amenities like this are often called motor coaches. Everything you need is
onboard this motor home. All you need to do is go to the grocery store and
stock your refrigerator and cupboards, gas up, grab family and friends and take
off for adventure.
Prices of models vary by
manufacturer, the amenities, and how many it can accommodate. Motor home prices
range from $100,000 to possibly 2 million dollars. Motor homes that cost 2
million dollars may be two level motor homes with all the latest technology
your home has.
One thing to take into consideration
when considering a motor home is how much you pay for vacations now. Although
gas is very expensive consider how much you will save over flying to your
destination, spending money for a hotel each night and eating all your meals
out.
